Pumpkin Power

This weekend, I came across this yummy pumpkin face & body mask in this month's Self Magazine and I had to share. I heart anything pumpkin, so I couldn't resist! Pumpkin contains antioxidants such as Vitamin A and C, as well as phytonutrients that help keep you looking young. Harness the veggie's revitalizing properties with this face & body mask. This is an adaptation of a treatment offered at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego It is super easy to make and is best done weekly....enjoy!

MIX TOGETHER:

1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/4 cup bentonite clay (avail at health food stores)
1 tbsp. honey
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp almond oil
2 tsp cinnamon

APPLY : evenly to your face or anywhere else you'd like to smooth. Leave on 10 minutes before rinsing. Almond oil moisturizes, clay draws out impurities, honey replenishes collagen and cinnamon improves circulation.

This is easy as pie...try not to eat it :)

Top Strategies for Winning Over by Any Boss

Happy Tuesday! Is your boss "Just not that into you"? If your boss is not making you feel respected in your position or not praising you or paying attention to you, you're not in his/her good graces, which could mean trouble. Here are some top strategies for winning over any boss:

1) Step Up Your Game ~ What extra work can you take on? Could you arrive early? Dress more professionally? Make a list of three things you can improve right away? Still Stumped? Ask a trusted friend or colleague for their honest feedback.

2) Act Like A Star ~ Brownnosers or those in need to beg for self-approval need not apply. The last thing you want to show your boss is insecurity. Everyone believes a confident person can handle the job. If you don't believe in your value, who will? Position yourself as a strength not an asset.

3) Keep It Positive ~ no matter how tough or mundane the work day may get keep it positive. Always maintain a can-do attitude vs. a "that'll never work" attitude; enthusiasm will always make you stand out in the crowd.

4) Be a Fabulously Well-rounded Woman ~ having a full life with hobbies and interest, may not only attract a potential romantic partner and add some spice to your life, the same applies to bosses Mentioning that you are training for a 5K or volunteering at your fave charity, sends a strong message that you're a responsible citizen who is active in her community. It shows your boss that you are a well-rounded person who has the discipline to run a race and hold a leadership role in your community. This is food for thought for your boss.

Fall in Love with Fall

We are two days into Fall and I'm loving it! This has got to be my most favorite season of the year (winter is wayyyy 2 cold dark and depressing, spring is way to temperamental and summer is too hot). Here are my top 10 reasons for loving Fall and in not particular order:

1) FOOTBALL ~ I don't pretend to know everything there is to know about football but I love the energy of football. I love hanging with my peeps at the Sports Bar watching the game. Cheering, Screaming and just having a good time. There is nothing like it!
2) THE FOOD ~ bring on the SOUPS! There is nothing like warming my tummy with all the delicious soups of the season. I love pumpkin so bring on the pumpkin bread, muffins, soup and who cannot love a Starbucks Pumpkin latte...mmmmmmm. Don't forget the baking of the apple pies or apple crisp :)
3) THE WEATHER ~ love that it's cooler and I can enjoy being outside whether it's walking, apple/pumpkin picking or sitting outside by the fire catching up with family and friends.
4) The CLOTHES/SHOES ~ the chillier weather brings more forgiving clothes (Gone are the bikinis and shorts) I love sweaters and bring on the BOOTS...a girl cannot have enough boots.
5) FALL T.V. ~ While I love my reality t.v. (shout out to Bravo) there is nothing like having Gossip Girls and Grey's Anatomy back. Plus, this new t.v. season has some promising new shows. Has anyone watched Glee? I thought I would not like the fact that they break out into song but it is done really well. I find myself singing along.
6) THE LEAVES ~ the colors of fall are so beautiful and soothing.
7) NEW BEGINNINGS ~ As a kid, Fall meant back to school shopping and school supplies, it was all so exciting. It meant that it was another time for me to recreate and grow. I still do this know I love to see what workshops, seminars and networking events are taking place during this time.
8) THE HOLIDAYS ~ I can't get enough of Halloween and Thanksgiving. I love/hate to be scared and Halloween parties are a scream! To me, there is better hoiday then Thanksgiving. It's all about spending time catching up with loved ones, Delicious moutherwatering food, and football. When we were little all the chicks would start our christmas shopping on Black Friday. It was an all day event and so much fun. Then to end off the night we would check out a movie and fall asleep. The memories and the bonding...miss those days :)
9) Gary Vaynerchuk's new book Crush IT .....comes out on October 13th!! Gary Vaynerchuk is that Guy! This book is all about following your passion and not wasting another moment not doing what you love. Once you get a dose of Gary there is not turning back. He is an expresso shot in the middle of the day, just gets you hyped. Check out his new book and let me know what you think. I can't wait!!!
10) 5K's ~ While, I am no runner, I do like participating in 5k's. You meet great people and run/walk for a great cause. I also get some bonding time with my friend CP who loves to do 5K's. This also keeps me motivated to exercise during the moments I really don't feel like it. I am exercising for a purpose and with an end result in mind. Plus, it's really fun.
